From being a child artiste to a director

I have a fascination for writing stories set against a period backdrop. In fact, my next film is also set in a period drama.

Dilip Kumar Salvadi, a popular child artist in many films during the late 1990s and early 2000s, is making his directorial debut with a devotional mystery thriller, Diksoochi. Interestingly, Dilip is also playing the lead role in the film, which has Chandni Bhagwanani as the leading lady.

Produced by Sailaja Samudrala and Narasimha Raju Rachuri, the film’s trailer has been garnering curiosity. Talking about the film, Dilip says, “Since the inception of the earth, there were two historical mistakes that everybody can recall. One was when Ravana kidnapped Sita in Tretayuga and the second one was Draupadi Vastraharan during the Dvaparayuga. There was yet another mistake in 1975 in the modern times (Kaliyuga).

Through my film, I want to showcase that mistake and unveil the mythological connect to it.” As for the title, Dilip explains, “Generally, when we address any good things, we say Diksoochi (guide), so I want my film to be a Diksoochi for content-driven films,” adding, “I have a fascination for writing stories set against a period backdrop. In fact, my next film is also set in a period drama.
