Amidst speculation that comic actor Ali would join the Telugu Desam Party and contest from Rajamundry or Guntur constituency, he joined the YSR Congress Party on Sunday, taking everyone by surprise. Ali joined the party in the presence of party chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, who formally welcomed him. “I will not contest the polls. I will work for the party and campaign in the forthcoming elections. People in Andhra Pradesh want Jagan as CM,” said Ali while speaking to the media after joining the party.
The comedian is among a growing list of Tollywood personalities who are joining the party, with Krishnudu, Jayasudha, Prudhvi and Bhanu Chander some of the other actors who have joined the party recently.
