Naresh is going strong!
Only a few actors can maintain their own style. Like Allari Naresh, known for his typical comedy films. The actor is now coming up with the film Intlo Dayyam Nakem Bhayyam, a horror comedy. “This is a new genre for me and director Nageswara Reddy. I have done many comedy films, but this is my first attempt at a horror comedy,” says Naresh.
After delivering his career best, Sudigadu four years back, many filmmakers approached him to do the same kind of subjects. “Everyone wanted me to do more comedy. So we concentrated on those lines, making the story weak. That’s one reason why some films didn’t do well at the box-office,” he explains.
He adds that he has moved on from his mistakes. “After Sudigadu I did a lot of experiments to reach the multiplex audience. People told me that most of my films did well at B and C centres, but to attract the multiplex crowd, I did films like Laddu Babu and Bandipotu. But those films didn’t do well, and now I am trying to rectify it. This film is completely story-based and the comedy is part of the story,” he says.
Talking about his earlier film Selfie Raja, Naresh says, “Most of my films do well and producers are happy. Although critics had written off Selfie Raja, it actually did well.”
Naresh is keen to attempt different genres as well as serious subjects. “But producers approach me with comedy subjects and I can’t say that I want to do a serious film. At the end of the day, it’s all business. I go according to my market and the business of my films,” he admits.
Senior actor and the king of comedy, Rajendra Prasad is also acting along with Naresh in this upcoming film. “Though he did hundreds of comedy films, this ghost subject is a first for him. I learnt a lot from him as he used to advice me on how to be subtle. In my earlier films, whenever I had a doubt about a particular scene, I used to watch his films and imitate him,” shares Naresh.
The actor reveals an interesting fact about Sudigadu. “Though the film is my career best, everyone expected it to be a disaster. Even my family didn’t believe in the film and prepared me for failure. I didn’t go to my house and stayed in the office that night. Only Nithiin was positive about the film. The next day, the film released and became a huge hit,” says the actor.
Naresh says he gives his best to every film and works hard. “In the beginning of my career, I did a few films just for the sake of people, but now I sign up after checking everything,” he says.
His upcoming projects include a family drama with director Anil Krishna. He also has a Tamil film with director Samuthirakhani. “The Tamil film was supposed to start some time back, but the director was busy and now it will start in January,” he says.
Now, Naresh is spending a lot of time with his four-week-old daughter. “I want to give my daughter the same freedom my dad gave me,” says the doting father.
