Multiplexes and theatres have been closed ever since the lockdown began. It now looks as if they will continue to remain closed, at least till the end of April, and possibly for another month.
The question is, when they do re-open, will people be willing to visit them to watch movies?
This is a difficult time for everyone, including the film industry. For many people, money has been in short supply of late.
“That’s true, but we in the industry have discussed the situation. If required, we will consider options like bringing down ticket prices”, says Suresh Babu, who owns many theatres and multiplexes in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
He however points out that the Telugu people are very fond of entertainment. “They can’t sit at home and watch TV or digital platforms. People want the theatre experience, so they will definitely come to the theatres,” he feels.
