Samantha to only play younger role in Miss Granny remake
Since actress Samantha’s forthcoming Telugu film, a remake of Korean film Miss Granny, is about a woman in her 70s who magically finds herself in the body of her 20-year-old self, fans have been waiting to see her look like a 70-year-old on screen.
But hold your horses, you are not going to. We have learnt that Samantha will only be seen as a 20-year-old while yesteryear actress Lakshmi will play the role of a 70-year-old. Apparently, it was a collective decision taken by the team to show Samantha only as a young girl. “Even in the original film, the two roles have been played by different actresses, and the film’s director Nandini Reddy was keen to stay true to it and not dilute its essence,” informs a source.
However, at one stage, the filmmakers considered using prosthetics for Samantha to reveal her as a 70-year-old. But since prosthetics are time consuming, the filmmakers did not want to take the chance.
“Moreover, Nandini Reddy believes that an actress ends up focusing more on the prosthetics and makeup, if used, than on the character. Hence, in the largest interest of the project, the filmmakers rejected the use of prosthetics.”
The comic drama, which has already canned a shooting schedule, also features Naga Shaurya.
