Varun Tej desperate for a hit

Varun Tej aims for a comeback with 'Operation Valentine,' tackling challenges of a delayed release and the quest for box office success

Hyderabad: After duds like ‘Gandivadari Arjuna’, young actor Varun Tej is banking on his next film ‘Operation Valentine’ which also marks his debut in Bollywood. “November and December releases faced tough times since audiences were reluctant to turn up in theatres. Some big flops would have probably discouraged the makers of ‘Operation Valentine’ to release the film on December 8 and they deferred it," says a source and adds, “Varun has to deliver a hit since his films like ‘Ghani’ failed to impress. He is scouting for the appropriate release date to bounce back into the reckoning.”

Of course, Varun Tej hogged the limelight for the last few months with news about his engagement with Lavanya Tripathi and their destination wedding being discussed among industry folks and fans. “Varun has scored big in his personal life and married his lady love. Now, he has to focus on his professional life and return with a bang,” he points out.

While the makers of Operation Valentine have officially announced that the film will be postponed to a brand new date, the official statement by the makers read, “Varun Tej and Manushi Chhillar’s film will have a new release date to provide the audiences with the greatest possible cinematic experience.”

The film is said to be a cinematic treat that features Varun as an Indian Air Force pilot. Alongside him, the gorgeous Manushi Chillar was expected to be seen as a radar officer in the film. “Varun has pinned hopes on this action adventure to showcase his crowd-pulling prowess again. He had delivered hits like ‘Fidaa’ and ‘Gadalakonda Ganesh’ and showcased varied shades,” he concludes.
