The Telugu film industry is eagerly awaiting the results of the Telangana Assembly polls. A large number of Tollywood celebrities exercised their franchise on Friday and many of them who are friends of TRS leader and former IT minister, K.T. Rama Rao, are hoping that he will be voted back to power, a top industry source says.
K.T. Rama Rao, who encourages good cinema constantly by applauding them on social media, has a legion of friends in the film industry including owners of top production house and actors small and big. For instance, even though Mahesh Babu’s brother-in-law is a member of the TDP, which is arch rival of the TRS, Mahesh and wife Namrata, maintain a very cordial relationship with KTR. The former minister reciprocates the cordiality: many will recall that he spoke very highly about Mahesh Babu’s last film, Bharat Ane Nenu and supported it. Nagarjuna is also a good friend of KTR and many others including Daggubati, Manchu family, Ram Charan, Ravi Teja, and Allu Aravind and their families are his supporters too.
Interestingly, many Tollywood personalities including Vijayashanti, Balakrishna, Tarakaratna, Nagma and Khushbhoo visited Telangana state to campaign for the combined opposition-Praja Kutami.
“It will be interesting to watch how Tollywood biggies will react if the Congress comes to power,” the source says. Congress party leader, Revanth Reddy, has openly criticised KTR for “roaming around Film Nagar with film industry people.”
