At a time when most Telugu films are being remade in Bollywood, here’s a role reversal. The 2017 Bollywood hit film, Bareilly Ki Barfi, is reportedly being remade in Telugu. The script of the romantic comedy, starring Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao, is now being customised to suit the Telugu sensibilities.
Sources say that production houses, People Media Factory and Kona Film Corporation, have acquired the Telugu remake rights of the Hindi film, which was based on French novel, The Ingredients of Love. While efforts are underway to rope in a star hero for the film, a source close to one of the production house says that they are yet to finalize one.
A source says, “People Media Factory and Kona Film Corporation were fascinated with the storyline and the commercial success Bareilly Ki Barfi got. They believed that the Telugu audience too would accept the fresh plot line and the film will strike a chord at the box office.”
