Sardaar... overtakes Baahubali, Srimanthudu

Pawan Kalyan's Sardar Gabbar Singh sets records for first day collections.

Pawan Kalyan has once again demonstrated his hold over the box office with Sardaar Gabbar Singh. Despite the film getting mixed reviews, its first day’s collections have gone past those of megahits like Baahubali and Srimanthudu.

SGS released on Friday worldwide in more than 2,500 screens. In the US, where it had a huge premier show, it overtook Mahesh Babu’s Srimanthudu’s first day collections and stood second after Baahubali. Clearly, the success of Gabbar Singh brought the audiences back for this film.

The film, meanwhile, beat Baahubali’s first day collections in most parts of Telangana state and Andhra Pradesh. In the two states, the film raked in '21.3 crore on Friday. Trade pundits say that the collections would be strong over the weekend too and the investors would recoup their money in the first week itself.

Sardar Gabbar Singh created an all-time record for a single day’s collections in Coastal Andhra, once again beating Baahubali. It collected Rs 11.82 crore in Andhra and Rs 4.15 crore in the Ceded area.
