The rumours are finally confirmed – Vidya Balan will be playing the role of Basavatharakam, NTR’s wife, in the NTR biopic starring Nandamuri Balakrishna. The actress has signed on the dotted line, and she is expected to join the Hyderabad schedule of the film’s shoot in mid-July.
The Dirty Picture star has been approached for several south Indian films in the past, including one starring Rajinikanth, but she has always turned them down. She seems to have finally found the performance-oriented role that she was looking for.
“Vidya is apparently inspired by how Basavatharakam led her life, as a woman. Despite being a mother to 13 kids, she was a pillar of support to NTR, and she steered the family while he was busy juggling films and politics. All of this will be portrayed in an interesting manner in the film, and Vidya is super-excited to be a part of it,” a source reveals.
The film, which is being directed by Krish and produced by Balakrishna, Sai Korrapati and Vishnu Induri, will go on floors next month.
