I felt insecure after Pelli Choopulu: Vijay Devarakonda

The actor has been on a signing spree, with several films in the pipeline.

Young actor Vijay Devarakonda is one of the most happening stars in Tollywood. Already busy with multiple projects, the actor is all set to sign yet another film, to be launched on Tuesday.

Describing his slew of projects, the actor says, “I am going to work with debutant director Bharath Kamma, who has come up with a gripping script, and the shooting will commence soon.” Meanwhile, the actor is busy working on a film by director Rahul Sankrityayan, in which he plays a cab driver. His film with director Parasuram (Bujji) is also all set to start in a few days. “It’s a family entertainer and a complete contrast to my earlier films,” informs Vijay. The actor’s other film Arjun Reddy is complete and ready to hit the screens soon. A project with director Nandini Reddy is also in the offing. Interestingly, the actor took his time to do Pelli Choopulu after Yevade Subramanyam as he says that he wanted to sign a good script. But of late, he has signed on several films. Is he under pressure of any kind? “I started shooting Arjun Reddy before Pelli Choopulu and the shooting is now complete. After that, I wanted to do Rahul’s film as I liked the script. Director Bujji’s script was also fun filled, so I decided to do it,” explains Vijay, adding, “These directors waited to work with me, as they could see only me doing those roles.”

When asked if he signed these films out of insecurity, Vijay says, “After Pelli Choopulu I felt insecure, but now I am very comfortable. In my initial days, I was without any work for four to five years of my life when I could not meet any producers or directors. But now, all of them are very accessible to me,” reveals Vijay, adding that he is trying a different look for all his projects.

This year’s birthday is very special for the actor, who admits that he doesn’t usually celebrate birthdays in a big manner. “But it’s been a good year for me — I am much more secure, confident, experienced and have grown personally and mentally. I plan to take my parents out for dinner, that’s it,” shares Vijay.
