Starring Sairam Shankar, the upcoming film will be directed by Jaya Ravindra, who’d directed the first film too. Nevertheless, the director has clarified that the second instalment of the 2009-romance–drama Bumper Offer will be independent of the first one and has a brand new story.
So when asked why he chose to name the upcoming film Bumper Offer 2, the director explained it was because of the shades and layers in the plot.
“Although the second instalment is a new and a different story, the backdrop to the plotline has a connection to the first one. It is, however, not a sequel,” reiterates the director, adding that the new film will have a different screenplay and treatment.
But why make a franchise film after more than a decade, we can’t help but wonder. “That’s because we still believe the script has the potential for a franchise series. And people who watched the first one would still connect to the second part,” says the filmmaker, who is collaborating with Sairam Shankar for the third time after Bumper Offer and Dillunnodu.
