Shraddha Srinath was never star-struck about Bollywood

The actress states that the experience of shooting for Milan Talkies was similar to any other South film.

Actress Shraddha Srinath is keeping her fingers crossed ahead of her Bollywood debut Milan Talkies, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. Talking about her role in the romantic entertainer, Shraddha says, “I play Mythili, a college-goer who is under pressure to clear her exams if she wants to get married. She meets an aspiring filmmaker (played by Ali Fazal) who is also a tutor. The two fall in love and what ensues are interesting complications.”

The actress states that the experience of shooting for Milan Talkies was similar to any other South film. “Industries only vary in scale and not in content, so I was never star-struck about Bollywood. However, I am fortunate to make it to Hindi because several people aspire to be a part of this industry,” states the actress. Apparently, it was her Tamil film Vikram Vedha that landed her this project.

“Tigmanshu asked me to enact a scene and send him my audition video. After five minutes, he called me back and said that I was on board. I was thrilled and literally danced,” she recalls, adding, “He was relieved when I said that I can speak Hindi because my father was in the Army and I was raised in different cities in the North.” Shraddha says it was difficult for her to detach from her character.

“Sometimes you get involved in the character so much that it becomes difficult to come out of it, like it happened to me in this film,” she says. So is she like Mythili in real life too? “No! I was always good in academics; it’s just the innocence of the character that fascinated me,” she says with a laugh.
