Theatres in the city re-open!
After a week-long closure, all the theatres in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will re-open on Friday. On Wednesday evening, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) called off its strike, announcing that they had reached an official agreement with the Digital Service Providers (DSP). This agreement, according to which, DSPs have given the thumbs up for a 20 percent reduction in the visual print fee, will come into effect starting the first week of April.
JAC Chairman, Suresh Babu explains, “We have come up with a temporary solution after talks with the DSPs. All the sectors from the Telugu Film Industry have accepted our proposal so we decided to open all the theatres from March 9. There are a few issues that still need to be discussed and the talks continue with the DSPs.”
He further says, “The differences between the industry and the DSPs have existed since years. When this digital service started, we made small mistakes initially and now these very issues have become big. So we have to take a decision and that’s the reason we closed all theatres.”
