Rahul singh's new innings

After a successful start in T'wood with Ghazi, the actor is set to be see in Rogue up next.

One of the most interesting characters in the critically acclaimed film Ghazi was that of the Pakistani naval commander, essayed by actor Rahul Singh, who made his Telugu debut with the film. The dialogue in which he compares the Indian naval commander to a liftman, has since become one of the most talked about dialogues of the film. And Rahul is quite exhilarated by the positive response for it. His mobile has been bombarded with several messages, most importantly from members of defence.

“I feel so humbled and honoured that people have received the film so well. It has been an enriching experience. For the first time ever, I interacted with naval officers for this film. I stayed in the Sindhukesari submarine for nearly a week to understand how they work. It’s such a pride to be part of a historic film,” shares a visibly elated Rahul, who will soon be seen in his second Telugu film Rogue, directed by Puri Jagannadh.

And interestingly, his role in the new film will be in total contrast to Ghazi. “While I have shades of grey there, Rogue will see me in a positive light. I don the uniform again! I was keen to play an antagonist but Puri sir said he had something else in store for me, and that he wanted to explore my other side too. That’s when I realised that if I play a baddie again, I would get typecast. This is a great opportunity for me,” reflects Rahul.

Now that his first film was a success and he’s got a new film up for release, we ask him what his plans in Tollywood are. “I am very keen to do a lot of Telugu films. I haven’t had the chance earlier but now that I have begun, I would love to keep doing it. I wasn’t able to dub for myself in Rogue. Hopefully, I will dub for myself too in future,” says Rahul.
