A stage for love
Kartikeya Gummakonda chose the pre-release event of his film, Raja Vikramarka on Saturday to express his feelings for his lady love. He and Lohita got engaged in August at a low-key affair.
“I thought there’s no better stage to express my feelings for her than the pre-release event of my film,” says Kartikeya, adding that he would cherish the memory of that moment for a long time.
Raja Vikramarka, directed by Sri Saripalli will showcase the journey of an NIA agent played by Kartikeya. However, the actor clarifies that the film is not like other films about NIA agents, and is made in a light vein.
“Although there are some action sequences, the film will be a hilarious ride. My character was written in an exciting way. Although my profession is serious in the film, my character is quirky,” he shares, adding that he is indeed like that in real life too, and hence, he could connect to the script. This is the first time he is playing a role with a high comic quotient.
There wasn’t much prepping required for the RX100 star. “However, for certain scenes, I had to gain or lose weight to look the part,” he says, adding that “It’s an edgy character.” Ask him how it feels to be in love, and he says, ‘very positive.’
“Love always had a positive impact on my life and helped nurture me into a better individual. When I proposed to her 10 years ago, she took around two years to accept,” shares the actor, adding that their relationship had its ups and downs.

The actor says he is not generally given to public displays, and likes to keep things simple. He felt the opportunity to express his love on stage was something he would not get again, and so he didn’t want to miss out on the chance.
“Difficulties and ordeals made us stronger and more supportive of each other. That’s the best part of my love life,” he explains, adding that they will be getting married on November 21.
