Bandook director's biopic on K Chandrashekhar Rao
Director Lakshman, who turned heads with his first film Bandook, has now announced his second film, which is based on an interesting subject. Titled Gulal, the film is a biopic on K Chandrasekhar Rao, the incumbent Telangana Chief Minister and leader of the Telangana movement.
The motion poster of the film was launched on Wednesday in the city by well-known writer Vijayendra Prasad. At the event, Lakshman announced that the story was about KCR, from childhood to his present position. Though the director did not announce who would would play the lead role, a source from the industry revealed that veteran actor Nawazuddin Siddique has been offered the film.
“The director and producer approached Nawazuddin and narrated the subject, to which the actor responded positively. The agreement is yet to happen, but will be finalised in a few days,” says the source.
There was some confusion around the film as some time back director Madhura Sridhar had also announced a film on KCR, and had apparently, approached the same actor for the role. However, with the launch of the film’s poster, all speculations have been put to rest.
