After having worked in several Malayalam and Tamil films over the last six years, Anu Sithara has become a name to reckon with. The Mamangam star will be soon making her Tollywood debut opposite Rajashekar in Sekhar. Directed by Lalith, the investigative thriller has already completed a schedule of shooting in Aaraku.
Talking about casting Anu for the part, the director says the role requires the actress to exhibit a lot of maturity. “Also, it has multiple looks in various time frames, so we were very specific in what we are looking for. We need performers,” says Lalith, adding, “She’s a great classical dancer too, so I thought that aspect of her could come in handy for us.”
Explaining that he happened to see Anu’s performance in a recent Malayalam film, Lalith says, “I narrated the story over a zoom call and she liked the layers in her character. She came on board instantly.” The director also reveals that he had auditioned over 15 actresses for the part.
