Chiranjeevi, the undisputed king of Tollywood, is facing competition from none other than his son, Ram Charan. Until recently, Chiranjeevi’s comeback film, Khaidi No.150, held the record for the second highest box-office collection, after Baahubali. Now, that record has been beaten by Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam.
The veteran actor says that he is both proud and jealous of his son’s achievement. “My next movie, Sye Raa, will create even bigger records,” he is reported to have said to his friends.
At a function held before the release of Rangasthalam, Chiranjeevi had said that the film would be a major milestone in Charan’s career. His words seem to have rung true; the film has given Charan’s career a boost and helped him reach a wider audience.
