Working with Venkatesh is a dream for anyone: Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is currently busy with the release of his upcoming film Saindhav which has Venkatesh Daggubati in the lead role. Saindhav marks his debut in the Telugu film industry and is directed by Sailesh Kolanu of Hit fame. Nawaz was in Hyderabad yesterday to promote the film. In an exclusive chat with Deccan Chronicle, here is what the actor has to say about the Telugu film industry, Saindhav, working with Venkatesh Daggubati, and more.

Why did it take so long for you to enter the Telugu market?

Every actor waits for a good story. I too waited for the right script. It ended with 'Saindhav'. This is a very interesting story. Working with Venkatesh is a dream for anyone. It is a pleasure to work with him.

In recent times, you have cut down on the number of negative roles. Is there any particular reason to play a villain in Saindhav?

I have never seen a villain or hero. What matters is whether the character is interesting or not. Sometimes there is more opportunity to perform in negative roles than positive ones. Director Sailesh has designed a very unique role in Saindhav. A character with a lot of potential to act.

This is Venkatesh's 75th film. How did you feel about the part?

In Saindhav, Venky will be seen in a new avatar and I am very very happy to be a part of his 75th film.

Do you watch Telugu movies?

I have watched many Telugu movies. I have watched a couple of Venkatesh's films. I had seen his movie Anari in Hindi. Recently too, I have watched a few Telugu films. As there is a language barrier, which I am looking forward to overcoming, I am hoping to get used to the language.

What do you think of South Indian cinema? Who would you like to work with?

The South Indian cinema industry is doing very well. I would like to work with every possible director and be part of some good films in the future. People from across the country are watching films in the South and there are many talented filmmakers here. I am looking forward to doing more films here.
