90 ML hits a hiccup!

Members of the MNPS are demanding that screening of the film should stop.

On Friday morning, the Madhyapana Nishedha Porata Samithi (an agitation movement to prohibit liquor) organised a protest against Kartikeya-starrer 90 ML at Prasads Multiplex in Hyderabad.

Members of the organisation held placards and demanded a stop to the screening of the film as it was only promoting drinking. “Many incidents that happened in recent times, including the Disha incident happened because of liquor. The youth are turning into alcoholics and committing crimes. Given that films influence society, we want to stop its screening,” says Dr D. Sambasiva Goud, General Secretary of the MNPS, adding that the title and the posters appear to be encouraging the drinking habit. “In one of the posters, the lead actor is shown drinking from a baby feeding bottle, which is disgusting. Filmmakers should come up with good titles and meaningful cinema,” says Goud, who reveals that he has already submitted a memorandum to the State Human Rights Commission to stop the screening of the film.

“We have also submitted an appeal to the Film Chamber of Commerce office,” he adds.
