One must fail in order to succeed: Anu Emmanuel

Anu Emmanuel talks about how working in the industry has changed her as a person and an actor.

Actress Anu Emmanuel is eagerly waiting for her upcoming film Sailaja Reddy Alludu where she plays the female lead opposite Naga Chaitanya. The actress plays an angry and egoistic person. So, is she like that in real life too? “Yes, a bit, but not to the extent like in the film,” shares Anu, whose character in the film is loud and screams at people. “This role is completely opposite to the roles that I played in my earlier films,” she says, adding, “I am a pretty angry person in real life, but it’s important to direct the anger at the right person.”

Does she regret doing some films which had a delayed release and ultimately flopped?

“Actually, it worked in my favour. My first film Oxygen got delayed, so Majnu became my debut film and it was a good success,” she says. However, Anu’s last few films have not done well at the box-office.

“Success and failure are not in my control, but seeing failures at an early stage of my career is a good learning experience. I am young and have just started my career, so I should make mistakes and learn from them. I believe you have to fail in order to succeed,” she says.

The actress says that she would love to do a film like Mahanati. “Sometimes, we can never imagine what kind of film will come our way. Look at Keerthy Suresh and Mahanati. It just happened to her and took her to a new level. I want a role like that so that the audience can remember me for long,” says Anu.
