Veteran director Dasari Narayana Rao has once again landed in a controversy. He called the audio functions of big stars, ‘tedious occasions’. He attended the audio launch of Kotha Kothaga Unnadi as a special guest, Dasari said, “It’s not an audio function, it’s like a jathara and I can’t understand the need for dance performances at audio functions. Why these dance performances and for whom? They release many promos, make videos before the film releases and create a lot of hype. But we have seen many films bomb even after the hype,” he said, adding that big films should do away with audio release functions. “So many people come on the dais and these events are never properly organised,” said the veteran director. He also said that smaller films needed more publicity, because big-banner films already have many huge stars.
