Rs 130 cr budget, Mythri Movie Makers drop project?

Leading production house Mythri Movie Makers reportedly put a film on hold since it would cost them more than Rs 130 crores “The budget was going above Rs 130 crore and it couldn't be pruned so they felt it would be unviable for a Telugu film,” says a source and adds, “The remuneration of hero Ravi Teja, director and a top actress and main casting would cost Rs 50 crores and another big sum for top technicians. Besides, the film was to be shot for 130 days which would add to a massive cost escalation,” he adds.

Despite two flops like ‘Ravanasura’ and ‘Tiger Nageswara Rao', seasoned star Ravi Teja is unwilling to take a pay cut for his upcoming film with director Gopichand Mallineni. “The combination of actor-director was fascinating and producers held a lot of negotiations to cut down the budget. With the directorial team insisting on quality over budget since any kind of compromise could affect the quality of a massive entertainer, hence the makers put the project on backburner,” he points out.

No doubt, Ravi Tej and Gopichand delivered big hits like ‘Don Seenu’, ‘Balupu’ and 'Krack' to be hailed as a heady combination. “Mythri Movie Makers are known for making lavish entertainers and working with big stars like Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR and Allu Arjun. But for this film, they wanted a viable budget since digital and Hindi dubbing rights have fallen drastically,” he concludes.
