We raised Rs 1 crore in just four days!: Raja Gautham
Comedian Brahmanandam’s son Raja Gautham is coming up with a concept based film titled Manu. Directed by debutant Phanindra Narsetti, the film is a crowd-funded one.
“I heard many subjects and watched quite a few short films that I liked. Among them were two short films directed by Phanindra. I called him to appreciate his work,” reveals Raja Gautham, adding that he met Phani soon after.
“We met in a coffee shop where he narrated the story of Manu, but he didn’t commit to anything then. After a couple of months, one day, Phanindra told me that he would be doing the film. Since I already liked the story, I immediately agreed,” he says, adding that he initially approached a few producers who didn’t show any interest.
“Phanindra then put up a request for crowd-funding on his Facebook page. Believe it or not, we raised Rs 1 crore in just four days! Many people invested from different places and I was shocked to see how fascinated people are about cinema,” says Gautham, adding, “We wanted to do it on our own. Even the technicians and artistes didn’t take a single rupee till now. We are all confident about the film,” he says.
“We took our own time and gave our full effort to the film,” he says, describing it as a romantic mystery thriller in which he plays a sculptor and painter.
Gautham says that he is game for all kinds of roles. “I am ready to do even a negative role, provided it challenges me as an actor,” he concludes.
