Sadaa Turns Activist, Raises Voice Against HMDA Eco Park in Hyderabad
Sadaa, who was seen in blockbusters like ‘Jayam’ and ‘Aparachitudu,’ is now an environmental activist. She is opposing Eco Park, proposed by the HMDA, since it demands three million litres of water in a city (Hyderabad), which is already battling water scacity. Besides, bringing animals from their natural habitats would cause more harm than good to them, she says. The actress shares her concerns with Deccan Chronicle.
Q: Why are you opposing Eco Park in Hyderabad? Are there any specific concerns?
A: We are against the proposed Eco Park by HMDA in Hyderabad since it is bound to cause a lot of environmental issues. Already, the denizens are facing water shortage, while the tunnel aquarium needs three million liters of water. Besides, animals are taken out from their natural habitats and transported to Hyderabad, which is quite harmful to them. Not only this issue, I have been an activist for climate change for a long time.
Q: Some countries boast of such parks in the world?
A: Maybe few countries would be boasting of eco parks, but why should we emulate them? Every country has its own needs and necessities. Apart from environmental disturbances, the animals in aquariums have to thrive on artificial food in unfriendly habitats which would put them under a lot of stress. Why should we disturb animals and create artificial ambiences just to offer some ‘fun’ to the visitors, we don’t subscribe to that view. Live and let live is an appropriate motto.
Q: You were last seen in the Telugu film ‘Ahimsa’, and now you are doing a lot of reality shows?
A: I am not getting exciting acting offers, so I have confined myself to reality shows on the small screen. The young contestants boost my spirits and energy, so I enjoy being around them.
Q: We hear you are also into wildlife photography?
A: I love wildlife photography and I spend most of my time documenting various forms of wildlife in their natural habitat. I am not doing it to earn money; rather I want to be close to Mother Nature. I’m equipped with field craft skills and it has come in handy to pursue my passion.
