My folk song is my answer to my detractors: Divi Vadthya

Actress Divi Vadthya\'s folk song, Silaka Mukku Dana, has become an instant hit

A few days ago, the grooving side of actress Divi Vadthya was revealed when her first music video, a Telangana folk number, was released. Views for the song titled Silaka Mukku Dana went up in no time.

Divi’s fast dance moves were the clincher for the video song penned by Kasarala Shyam, sung by Harika Narayan, and directed and choreographed by Sekhar Master. “I felt folk has taken a backseat with the emergence of Western Music. Through my song, I want to infuse a new lease of life in the folk genre,” Divi says, adding that as a big fan of folk music, she grooved to several numbers in her childhood.

While she liked the concept of the song, which was shot in a private studio a fortnight ago, the actress, in a lighter vein, says that she got heavily tanned during the filming. “Perhaps it’ll take around three months to get detanned,” she laughs.

Worth the hard work

Sharing that she rehearsed extensively to get her dance moves right, Divi says, “I haven’t worked this hard for any other song. In fact, while dancing, I got knee pains and cramps, and my body was sore. I actually cried because of body ache. But after seeing the final output, I smiled!”

In the past, Divi has faced criticism that she can’t dance. “All those insults made me stronger; the super success of this folk song is my answer to all my detractors,” says the Bigg Boss Telugu 4 contestant, adding that she had always wanted to do a solo dance-based number.

All part of the journey

Divi has faced several rejections, but she says she’s able to take them in her stride, as she knows how challenging it is for an outsider to break into the industry. “Even during difficult times, I never let rejections affect my thought process. I know what it takes to survive in the industry, so I kept working hard to realise my dream of becoming an actress and watching myself on the big screen,” she says.

Divi had earlier acted in a couple of films and shares that she realised self-belief and self-love would be crucial in her journey. “Everyone has flaws but the beauty lies in embracing your own personality and going from strength to strength.

Despite facing rejections, I believed in myself and kept working on my strength,” explains the B Tech graduate. Finally, Bigg Boss happened,” she says, adding that the show opened up endless opportunities and filmmakers have been approaching her since then.

“As an actress, I need to try different things to flaunt my versatility. Having said that, I also need to be careful in my choices,” Divi says. Though she comes from a conservative family, Divi shares her parents always encouraged her to pursue her dream of getting into showbiz. “I want to repay their trust and make them proud,” the actress says, signing off.
