Chiranjeevi was away on vacation with his family, somewhere in the hills near Bangalore. However, the actor had promised to show up at the event organised by the Directors’ Association on account of Tollywood’s Director’s Day, which is celebrated in the name of Dasari on his birthday every year.
Therefore, in order to keep his word, he flew down to Hyderabad in a chartered flight. He not only attended the event as promised but also announced a donation worth Rs 25 lakh when the association announced a trust. He was at the event for about two hours, after which he boarded the same flight to join his family again.
Legendary director K. Raghavendra Rao was also present at the event. He donated Rs 10 lakh to the trust. He further announced a Rs 50 lakh donation on behalf of S. S. Rajamouli, who could unfortunately not make it to the event, and another Rs 15 lakh on behalf of Arka Media, the producers of Baahubali. Within scarcely a few minutes after the announcement, the trust had made Rs 1 crore in donations.
