Baahubali 2 takes China box office by storm

Movie earns a whopping Rs 19 crore on Day 1 from 18,000 screens.

Hyderabad: Director S.S. Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali 2 has been released in China and got a huge opening response there.

According to trade reports, Baahubali 2 is the third Indian film after Secret Superstar and Hindi Medium to get the highest collections on the first day.

Originally made in Telugu, this high-budget film became a huge success in India in all languages last year and collected more than Rs 1,500 crore.

It is the fifth Indian film releasing in China in nearly 18,000 screens.

The other Indian films are Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar and Dangal, Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Irfan Khan starrer Hindi Medium.

Dangal, which was released in China on May 5, has broken several records in the Chinese movie industry and raked up over Rs 1,100 crore.

The Prabhas-starrer released in India on April 27, 2017.

The film stands at third position competing with big stars like Aamir Khan and Salman Khan.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala, tweeted that it collected nearly Rs 19 crore on the first day. “Baahubali 2 collected US$2.85 million (Rs 19 crore) on the first day.” Another trade analyst Taran Adarsh reports that it collected Rs 16.24 crore. Both say it stands in the third position.
