The 'Busy' man

Actor Srinivas Avasarala talks about the experience of working on Babu Baga Busy.

Babu Baga Busy sees Srinivas Avasarala in a new avatar. The meek, friendly boy-next-door will be stepping into a different genre — adult comedy. It was just recently that we saw him in a role where he donned grey shades, for Gentleman. It does seem like the actor-director is stepping into a new arena, and he is clearly excited. “To be able to step out and work requires a lot of motivation and that comes only if you’re excited about the project that one has taken up,” he explains.

And that’s how he is out to break his image with Babu Baga Busy. One wonders if he is apprehensive about the reception from the audience, especially the female crowd. Srinivas reasons, “I don’t think that’s the case because entertainment doesn’t depend on your gender but your taste.” But wouldn’t a conservative audience find it difficult to accept a film like this? “We just assume things about the audience. Let’s give them something new then we can discuss whether they’ll like it or not!” he says.

The film is a remake of the Hindi flick Hunterrr and the actor reveals that Babu Baga Busy was completely his interpretation of the character. “I never attempted to bring the same impact. I did my own thing and there was no imitation involved. Yes, I watched the film, but this was entirely my take.”
