First Telugu writer to pen a Hindi Song
Several Telugu people have been making national news in recent times — like Rajamouli and team for the film Baahubali, director K. Viswanath for winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, and National Awards for Telugu films.
Yet another Telugu person in the news is Sirasri, a Telugu lyricist who recently wrote a song for Amitabh Bachchan starrer Sarkar 3, directed by Ram Gopal Varma, and becoming the first South Indian to pen a Hindi song in recent times.
The writer and RGV worked together earlier on many Telugu films. “I have been associated with Ramu garu since several years,” shares Sirasri, adding, “I wrote a few lines with composer Ravi Shankar. He immediately liked it and asked me to pen the full song. Track singer Navraj Hansh crooned the number and he too liked it,” says Sirasri.
The music director recorded the song and after a few days, played it to RGV, who in fact, didn’t know that Sirasri was the lyric writer. “He liked the song and called to congratulate me. That’s how I got to know that my song is there in the album,” he reveals.
