Balayya's speech just pinches'
Actor Nandamuri Balakrishna is known to speak his mind on subjects of his choice but on Friday evening, at a public event, he crossed the line.
Balakrishna was the special guest at the audio launch of the film Savitri. Nara Rohith, nephew of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, was also in attendance.
The actor was trying to explain how actors try to play different roles throughout their careers. “I have always tried to do different roles. If I simply run behind the actresses, my fans will be disappointed. They like it when I either kiss the girl or make her pregnant,” he said.
The comments strangely received a thundering applause from the audience. A few others were seen exchanging awkward glances.
Also attending the event were actresses Shraddha Das and Rashmi Gautham. But Balakrishna ignored their presence as he continued to reveal he has often been “naughty” with his female colleagues.
“I too act naughty with the actresses... I pinch them sometimes,” he said.
Both actresses, who were present on the dais, as “special guests” watched on helplessly.
The event was telecast live on TV and thousands watched the broadcast in both the Telugu-speaking states. But obviously, that didn’t stop the actor from going ahead with the sexist comments.
