Sanjjanaa comes to the small screen
Sanjjanaa is excited about her upcoming TV serial that features her as a warrior queen. Prasad Devineni of Baahubali fame is producing this serial and Yaata is the director. “It’s a high-budget serial for which they have erected three big sets.
There are nearly 400 people working every day while shooting,” informs Sanjjanaa. “It’s a dream come true for me as I have always wanted to play a role similar to Anushka’s role of Jejjamma in Arundathi. With this role in this serial, my wish has come true,” says the actress.
She took nearly 20 days to learn horse riding and another 10 to learn sword fighting. “My role is similar to Prabhas’ in Baahubali. I play a woman warrior,” she says, adding that it is not easy to take on these historic fantasy roles. “You have to be physically fit when you play this kind of role and I can imagine how much hard work Prabhas, Rana and the others put in for Baahubali,” says the actress.
This is the first time that a lot of money is being put into a tele-serial says Sanjjanaa. “When I did the screen test, I thought it is for some folk serial. But once I heard the story and saw the huge sets, I was surprised,” she says, adding that Yaata and his wife Naveena are the brains behind this serial. “The director worked with K. Raghavendra Rao earlier and he did many successful serials. He motivates me every day on the sets,” she says.
When asked if acting in TV will jeopardize her film chances, she says, “I am not a newcomer looking for opportunities. The role that I play and the serial is bigger than a high-budget film.”
