Ever since it has been announced that Malayalam actor Mammootty will be seen playing former AP Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy in his biopic, everyone’s been dying to know who will play his son, Jagan Mohan Reddy. Among the names that have been doing the rounds in this regard are Suriya and Karthi. But in what comes as a shocking revelation, we hear that the filmmakers have decided to omit Jagan’s character altogether so that they can focus on YSR and his legendary 1,500 km padayatra (walkathon) of 2003.
A source says, “The director doesn’t want to deviate from his original script, which focused only on YSR’s journey. He just wants to celebrate YSR through the biopic.” The filmmakers apparently feel that the audience’s expectations of whoever plays Jagan may take away from the essence of the film. “There’s been a lot of hype about the part of Jagan Mohan Reddy. And though the actors they’ve approached have expressed an interest, the filmmakers don’t want to focus on a role that is essentially an extended cameo. They’ve decided to drop it taking into account the interest of the film at large,” the source adds.
