Aakasa Veedhullo: A decent attempt
Film: Aakasa Veedhullo
Cast: Goutham Krishna and Poojitha Ponnada
Director
Rating: 2.5
It's quite a rare scenario where one makes a directorial and acting debut in the same film. The trailer of Aakasa Veedhullo was interesting. Let's check out the review
Siddhu (Goutham Krishna) is a happy go lucky chap who wants to make a career in music. But his father (Devi Prasad) is not happy with Siddhu's career choice. While his father tries to motivate him, his efforts go in vain.
A frustrated father eventually breaks his son's guitar. A hurt Siddhu leaves the house! What happens later, and how he becomes a rock star and how the drama takes interesting turns forms the rest of the story
At the outset, Goutham Krishna chose a heavy subject for his acting and directorial debut. Although the film’s first half was engaging and entertaining, the pace slows down in second half, which is a major drawback. But apart from the adequate entertainment, the movie also gives a message for the youth.
The scenes regarding father-son conflict is shown very convincingly, but could have been better and intense. The emotional scenes between the lead pair were also written well. Overall, the film will connect well to the youngsters! But more emphasis should have been on the lead pair.
Goutham Krishna looked promising, though it’s his debut vehicle. He has a charming personality and came up with a good performance, especially during the emotional sequences. His dialogue delivery too is appreciative.
Pujita Ponnada looked pretty and is adequate. The actress showed off her oomph and glamour in some sequences and songs. Both Goutham and Poojitha’s chemistry worked well for the movie. Srikanth Iyengar and Devi Prasad played their part efficiently while Satyam Rajesh provided the comic relief.
Although the film was made on a decent budget, it has good technical qualities. Goutham Krishna took a bit of a risk in picking up a film that has strong emotions but he manages to impresses with his direction.
However, he could have written more layers in the script to make it more intense. He dealt the complicated subject well, but it would have been more convincing had he added more drama to the father-son thread.
Judah Sandy’s music and Vishwanadh Reddy’s camera work complemented the director's good work. The songs and background score are the big asset while editing was good. Producers Manoj JD and Dr DJ Manikanta did not leave any stone unturned during the making.
