The new kid in Bollywood -town

Actor Naveen Polishetty talks about his upcoming Bollywood debut in Chhichhore, under director Nitiesh Tiwari of Dangal fame.

After watching the Aamir-Khan-starrer Dangal a few years ago, actor Naveen Polishetty had told his mom how he’d wished to debut in Bollywood under such a director. But little he did he know that his wish would come true, and soon. Naveen is now set to make his Bollywood debut in director Nitiesh Tiwari’s forthcoming film Chhichhore.

The Bollywood knock
The year thus far has been challenging yet creatively satisfying for Naveen. “2109 has been a memorable for me; I recently made my Telugu debut with Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya, which was a super hit, and I am all gung-ho about my Bollywood debut, Chhichhore, which is releasing in this year too. I never expected that I would debut in both the industries in the same year,” says Naveen.

Nitiesh’s team had called Naveen for an audition after seeing his YouTube videos in Hindi. “Six months later, they called me again for another round of audition. After I was through, Nitesh hugged me saying that I am part of the Chhichhore team. I was thrilled to bits and the joy was inexplicable,” the actor adds.

Naveen will play the part of a college-goer in the film. And the campus scene shoots definitely got him nostalgic, making him relive his college days.
“Chhichhore is about the lives of six youngsters, celebrating friendship, the only statehood where you can be truly yourself. The film captures the fizz in a friendship, and I play the role of Acid, an interesting character,” he explains.

The actor says he had a great time bonding with Nitesh. “Both Nitesh and I are engineering graduates, and we were talking about our respective college days. He’s a great human being and working with him is bliss. He was like a big brother. In fact, he was the one who launched the trailer of my Telugu film,” explains Naveen.

Describing the film’s leading lady Sharaddha Kapoor as a cool co-star, he says, “I used to joke with her that this year has been the debut year for both of us in Telugu. Singing was our common interest.” Post the super success of Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya, Naveen, who’s already started shooting for his second film, has been naturally flooded with several scripts. “It’s a great phase for any actor to be in,” he says, thanking the Telugu audience for their appreciation.
