Abhishek Maharshi is set to direct a comic caper titled Prem Kumar. The film will feature Santosh Shoban, son of the late filmmaker Shoban, who was previously seen in films such as Ek Mini Katha, Paper Boy and Thanu Nenu.
According to Abhishek, the film is a hilarious take on a groom who wants to get married but never gets there. “Prem Kumar is a spirited youngster who wants to get married. But a comedy of errors prevents him from entering the wedlock. The film is a comical portrayal of how he deals with such situations,” says Abhishek, who has also penned the story along with Anirudh Krishnamurthy.
The director elaborates that the film’s screenplay will leave the audiences wondering. Interestingly, Abhishek has himself been an actor, having featured in a handful of films, once even playing sidekick to Santosh Shobhan, in Thanu Nenu. “But I always wanted to become a writer,” says Abhishek explaining his shift of focus, adding that Santosh gave his okay for the film when producer Shiva Prasad and he narrated the script to him.
