Seasoned director V Vinayak was planning to make a comeback with a big ticket film with megastar Chiranjeevi to be produced by Sushmita Konidela. With Chiranjeevi said to focus on his other film with director Vasishta, V V Vinayak has to wait for some more time. ”It is a fact that Chiranjeevi met VV Vinayak a couple of times but they couldn’t find the right script that would justify their reunion, so Chiru deferred the proposal,” says a source.
Earlier, Vinayak worked with big stars like Chiranjeevi (Tagore), Balakrishna (Chennakesava Reddy), Jr NTR (Aadhi), Ram Charan (Nayak) and Ravi Teja (Krishna) to reach the big league of directors in Tollywood.
He also worked with younger heroes like Bellamkonda Srinivas and Sai Dharam Tej. “His film ‘Alludu Adhurs’ with Bellamkonda worked well at the box office, while his other film “Intelligent’ with Sai Dharam Tej bombed. From thereon, he slowed down,” he adds.
He has been in the industry for more than 20 years, while new-age directors like Sukumar, Anil Ravipudi and Nag Ashwin, have also become his new competitors, so Vinayak has limited options. “He has a good rapport with Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna, so he has limited options for now,” he concludes.
