Fire on Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa set

A fire broke out on the sets of Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film Sye Raa and damaged Rs 3 crore worth of property.

A fire broke out on the sets of Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film Sye Raa in the wee hours on Friday. According to a source, a part of the enormous set, which was erected near Kokapet on the outskirts of the city, worth Rs 3 crore has been destroyed in the fire. Fortunately, nobody was present at the location then and therefore, no casualties were reported. The source revealed that the fire was most likely caused by a short circuit.

Apparently, the land on which the set was erected belongs to Chiranjeevi and his family. “Several scenes are yet to be shot, so they’re planning to reconstruct the set,” said the source. Rajeevan, the art director, will be providing the cost and time estimates for its reconstruction.

Thankfully, however, only a part of the set caught fire, and it did not spread. A source explained that the set is highly flammable as they have used fibre and treated grass to construct it.

Ram Charan, who is producing the film, released a statement on twitter, saying, “Unfortunately, a fire broke out in our Sye Raa set in Kokapet earlier this morning. Thankfully, everyone in the team is safe and no one is hurt. We are really looking forward for our last schedule to finish!!, (sic).”

Sye Raa is the story of Kurnool’s Narasimha Reddy, the freedom fighter. Chiranjeevi’s son, Ram Charan, is producing the movie, while Surender Reddy is directing it.
