Litmus test for Aswathama
Though it got off to a promising start, excessive violence and poor reviews have put a question mark over the future of the film.
Naga Shaurya’s latest film, Aswathama, released last Friday, got off to a good start, but this week will reveal whether it can hold its box-office position. Though the actor has managed to impress the audience with his rugged looks and the physical transformation he has undergone, the Ramana Teja directorial is marred by excessive violence and has received some not-so-encouraging reviews.
“Film belonging to the niche psychopath thriller genre could prove detrimental. Moreover, the excessive violence is surely a drawback as it prevents family audiences and the youth from flocking to the theatres,” says a trade analyst.
