Sri Vishnu finally gets his due
Hailing from a village near Bheemavaram, Sri Vishnu was always passionate about films and cricket. “I played cricket in college and still love watching it on TV. I am crazy about films too,” he says.
After graduation, Sri Vishnu joined a corporate job but remained keen on a career in films. “I left the job and decided to try my luck here,” he recalls. He started off with small role but remained unnoticed. “It’s been a seven-year-long journey of struggle. Luckily, family has been supportive and understanding, so I never felt disappointed,” he shares.
It was only three years ago that many noticed his talent in Prema Ishq Kadhal. “The film’s director is my friend and we had done a short film Divorce, which got a good response. That inspired him to direct the film and I luckily got a meaty role,” he explains.
He admits to have kept away from home during the struggle. “I was shy because many knew that I left my village for films. Many roles went unnoticed, so I decided not to return only after a good one,” he confesses.
The tide has turned and now, he has good roles lined up in a few upcoming films. He is playing the lead in Appatlo Okadudevadu which also stars Nara Rohith. The film is being directed by Sagar Chandra.
Describing the film, he shares, “It has an interesting plot with an element of crime. Subjects like naxalism, globalization and scams that happened in the city in the 1990 have been touched. I play a cricketer-turned-criminal. It’s a challenging role as the character has two shades.”
Recalling a scene from the film, he says, “The cricket episode was very difficult to shoot and we used four cameras to make it believable. It was like a real match and we roped in a cricketer from the North Zone also.”
Nara Rohith, his co-star in the film, is Sri Vishnu’s close friend in real life plays a tough cop in this film. “I met him when I was trying my luck in films and we became good friends,” he says.
