Back to the basics

Post her debut film, Dorasani, Shivathmika rajashekar wants to focus on her academics.

Post the release of her debut film Dorasani, actress Shivathmika Rajashekar is looking forward to doing more films. However, actor Rajashekar’s daughter says her immediate priority is to continue her academics. “I am currently prepping up for the NEET exam and giving it my best shot, although I am open to doing films, too, if I come across anything intriguing. But I want to balance both my studies and academics,” says Shivathmika.

Ask her what her takeback from Darasani was, and she replies, “Although I have often been on the sets of my father’s films, experiencing the whole process of filmmaking first hand is great. I have learnt several things from expressions to dialogue delivery. The insights and nuances of acting I have picked up in my debut film will help me in my forthcoming films.”

Shivathmika’s mother Jeevitha adds that it was Rajashekar’s decision that their daughter completes her studies. “He was very firm that the kids must complete their academics so that they can always have an alternative career to fall back upon. When I started acting, I couldn’t get the opportunity to continue my studies; then, I got married immediately. But we want our children have the best of both worlds so opportunities are always available,” elaborates Jeevitha.
