Senior director S.V. Krishna Reddy recently approached Balakrishna to do the actor’s 101st film, but Balakrishna turned down the offer.

According to a source, Krishna Reddy’s project has a fantasy backdrop, for which he first met Kamal Haasan to narrate the subject.

“The actor rejected it outright as he felt that the subject was not believable. Krishna Reddy also could not convince him otherwise. Later he took the subject to actor Suriya who said that it would not suit him,” says the source.

The director went on to narrate it to a couple of more actors and then finally approached Balayya.

“When the director initially narrated the story, he responded positively. But when he came to know that several actors had earlier rejected the subject, he too immediately said ‘no’,” adds the source.

Balakrishna is now scouting for another director for his next film. He is supposed to work with director Krishna Vamsi, but the project is on hold because of Amitabh Bachchan.

“Big B wants to come on board but his dates are available only in the later part of the year, so plans are on hold,” says the source.
