Music composer Anup Rubens has been in the industry for more than 16 years, writing music for over 50 films. And that by itself is an achievement for someone who came into the industry with no filmy connection indeed.
Of course, the composer — who has lent his talents for the upcoming and highly anticipated movie 90 ML — has seen his share of ups and downs. But he describes his journey in the industry nothing short of ‘satisfying’. “I believe Telugu cinema’s music is getting stronger because we’ve been churning out chartbusters with lyrical value,” explains Anup, adding, “I’ve composed music for several films, but the storyline of 90 ML, directed by Sekhar Reddy, is unique. The film had a great scope for composing mass numbers. The audiences will get to see the lead actor Kartikeya grooving to some of fast numbers.”
The composer goes on to describe competition in the industry as something that pushed him into doing better.
“Films such as 90 ML offers the scope to think innovatively, giving you a competitive edge,” he contemplates.
Anup then talks about how music changes the texture of any film. “As music is the first thing that comes out for any film, it generates interest for a film; so also, music forms a crucial part of the project,” he says as he signs off.
