Actor Balakrishna seems to have a knack for getting entangled in controversies. Only recently did he make news for slapping a fan. Now, his latest stunt has ticked off the followers of superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Chiranjeevi. During an interview he gave as a part of the promotions of his latest release Paisa Vasool, he spoke about actors in politics. He said that politics wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea — except for people like his late father “Rama Rao garu”.
He then promptly went on to term both Amitabh Bachchan and Chiranjeevi as “political failures”.
“Amitabh Bachchan unadu. Em peekadu politics lo ki ochi? Parliament lo kuda autographlu, photolu ivvadaniki panikochadu anthe (What did Amitabh Bachchan achieve by coming into politics? Even in parliament, he was capable of only autographs and photographs),” he said, adding, “It’s not easy like everyone thinks. They can’t sustain it. What happened to Chiranjeevi? No one can shine. I will give it in written.”
But what has really caused a storm is his final statement that seems to be laced with caste references. “Memu veru. Ma blood veru. Ma breed veru. Sustainability undi maku. (We are different. Our blood is different. Our breed is different. We have sustainability),” he said, much to the chagrin of netizens.
