We have heard that SMK Films and Manikayam Movies have registered a complaint in the Film Chamber, stating that they have the rights over the title, Gang Leader as they had registered it long ago. They further suggested that going forward, the filmmakers of Nani’s film to add Nani’s name in the suffix (Nani’s Gang Leader).
Ravi Shankar, one of the producers of the Nani-starrer Gang Leader, admits that he has received the notice from Film Chamber. “We received the notice over the title row. We shall look into the matter whether to change the font of the title logo design or suffix the title with Nani’s name, and take a call soon,” he explains, adding, “We went ahead with the title only after checking its availability. Moreover, we do not have any idea about the other film. Earlier too, we had Mahesh’s Khaleja, Kalyanram Kathi, etc. So this is not a big issue and we will fix it.”
