Mersal to release in Telugu next week?
After its release, actor Vijay’s hit Tamil film Mersal came under fire recently for controversial dialogues on the government’s GST regimen. Since then, there have been many rumours about the delay in the release of the Telugu dubbed version, Adrindi. A source says, “The censor officials have not seen the Telugu version yet. But the producers are confident that they may not get any cuts for the film as the officials cleared the same for the original version.”
The film’s censor screening would take place in Chennai and the officials want to check whether the translation contains the exact meaning of the Tamil dialogues in the Telugu version. “The Tamil version was already released in Hyderabad at the same time and no one objected the dialogues. So, it is going to be cleared by this weekend,” added the source. Moreover, Vijay doesn’t have much of a standing in Tollywood. Even if the censor officials suggest any cuts, the producer, who is eager to release the Telugu version, may approach the revision committee.
