The Swadesh Group is about to invest nearly Rs 1,000 crore on the Telugu film industry. “We are planning to build mini theatres in nearly 450 important centres in both states. The capacity of these theatres will be 150 to 200. They will be multiplexes with two screens,” says Rajeshwar Rao, CEO of the company.
“Single theatres are closing because of lack of facilities. In rural areas too people want to watch films in an air-conditioned theatre. When compared to China and USA, there are fewer theatres in India. So we chalked out a plan to come up with more mini theatres,” he says. “We are planning to build an International Film Trade Centre and an International Film Convention Centre to facilitate making of feature films. There are many films lying in the laboratory even after shooting is completed. We want to help the makers to get their films released,” he adds.
