The pre-release event of Pawan Kalyan’s film, Vakeel Saab was scheduled to be held on April 3 at the Police Grounds in Hyderabad, but at the eleventh hour, the police cancelled the permission they had given. The reason cited was the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
“The permission was granted long back, but in the larger interests of public health and the surge in COVID-19 cases, the cops reviewed the consent. Since around 4,000 people can be accommodated at the Police Grounds, there are chances of the virus spreading rapidly. The cops therefore cancelled the permission,” says a unit member. The filmmakers are scouting for another venue, perhaps an indoor one.
