Balayya and Rana up for a remake

Actor Balakrishna hopes to remake the Malayalam hit, Ayyappanum Koshiyum

The Malayalam film Ayyappanum Koshiyum has been a big hit. Now, word has it that our very own Balakrishna is showing interest in doing a Telugu remake of the film. The story revolves around the ego problems of a retired and influential military person and a police officer. In the Malayalam film, Biju Menon and Prithviraj played the two characters. We hear that Balakrishna looks interested in playing the retired military officer’s role for the Telugu remake.

“Actually, Balakrishna wants to work with veteran director B. Gopal who was looking for a good subject. The former suggested this Malayalam film to Gopal. However, Sitara Entertainment had actually bought the remake rights of the film, and it is up to them whether they produce the film with Balakrishna,” a source tells us. The film also needs another popular actor to play the cop’s role, and Balakrishna apparently hopes for Rana Daggubati to do it. “Rana has also shown interest in doing the film, but he wants full clarity regarding the director and producer,” adds the source. So, as we have it for the moment, if everything goes well, Balayya and Rana may soon act together in two powerful roles.
